At just 62.8 cm tall, 30-year-old Jyoti Amge holds the record as the world’s shortest woman. Recently, she shared an unforgettable afternoon with 27-year-old Rumeysa Gelgi—the tallest woman on the planet, measuring an astonishing 215.16 cm. The extraordinary meeting took place at London’s Savoy Hotel, where the two were celebrated as Guinness World Records Icons. But what truly captured the internet’s attention was an unexpected moment that left millions talking.
Amge, known for her work as an actress, later appeared on television to speak candidly about the challenges she faces daily. Due to her height, even leaving the house requires assistance, and her home has been custom-designed with miniature furnishings to help her navigate more comfortably.
Her translator, Amol Pangul, explained that many everyday tasks are difficult for Amge without support. “At home, everything is adapted to her height so she can function independently—but she always needs someone when going outside.”
Gelgi, meanwhile, was born with Weaver syndrome, an extremely rare genetic disorder that causes accelerated growth and bone abnormalities. Hers is the first documented case in Turkey and only the 27th in the world. Though reliant on a wheelchair and only able to stand briefly with a walker, Gelgi’s determination has led her to break barriers and inspire others.
